Chloe Testa Hmm, I'd probably say not. Stylistically, I can produce strong romance writing, however as it's not a genre I focus on, I tend to not write about it and hence not develop this style further.
Chloe Testa I do indeed! I'm currently writing the sequel to this book and have another idea planned and in the pipeline - it's simply finding the time to actually stop and write it all down.
Chloe Testa Wow that's a tough question! I'd say it's definitely something that has only helped improve my writing. From understanding the intimate to the base details and what each can mean to analysing language and, most importantly, not over complicating it and losing the story itself, teaching has really boosted my awareness of all of these elements helping to definitely clarify my writing. It's not something I always focus on consciously, but as it's just so much a part of me by now it's a continually subconscious practice, I'd say.
Chloe Testa The past, the present and the future walk into a bar. It was tense.
Teeheeheehee
Chloe Testa My dream? Hmm that's a hard one. Biggest dream, I suppose, is that my book is read by a wide variety of people all across the world. The money is nice, this is true, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't hope for international fame (who doesn't want to be the next J.K. Rowling/Suzanne Collins/Stephen King/Dan Brown!) but I mostly just want people to read it and to enjoy it.
Chloe Testa If I'm honest, I'm not sure. Inspiration is bizarre because it can come from absolutely anywhere at any time. I find music really helps me think though as it allows me to distance myself from the world and get my mind just working, playing out scenes and seeing characters develop.
Chloe Testa The sequel to Blood Roses. It's hard to fit it in around building a website, doing marketing and promotion as well as actually giving enough time to my full time teaching job!
Chloe Testa It's a long hard slog at times. You will hate what you've written. You will hate yourself. You will want to give up. You may even given up entirely. For a while. But never give up completely. Take some time away from your writing and reassess, mull everything over and just get away from the screen or the page. Otherwise you lose yourself in the minutiae and forget the bigger picture. Writing needs to be your passion and your biggest addiction, but like any great love affair, you also need to know when to step back and give yourself some breathing room so that you can come back to your love renewed and ready to develop further.
Chloe Testa The exploration of every thought in your mind, no matter how weird or wonderful. Even if you never use it in a story you've still explored it. I've got hundreds of pieces filled with bits and bobs, all of which are fascinating to me.
Chloe Testa I stare at a blank screen for ages and get very frustrated with myself before going to youtube and watching music videos.
Then I just start writing. It will all be nonsense and most of what I write won't be used, but it gets me out of that block by just getting the writing flowing. It's kind of like when you forget what you were going to say so you keep talking in the hopes your brain will eventually tell you what you were originally saying.
