Kayla I. Shown-Dean I'm easily inspired by nature, but I also tend to highlight social and religious issues in my works.
Kayla I. Shown-Dean I'm nearly through with publishing on my collection of poetry, Autumn Leaflets. Once it's released, I will intend to pick up on another collection of poetry that I've let sit idle for a few years. I will also begin writing my second novel, which will be the first in a series of three.
Kayla I. Shown-Dean Usually, I take writer's block as a hint that I need to take a break. I'll go outside and play with my son or watch a movie with my husband. Most of the time, my mind clears. Often, I'll even get an idea while I'm taking my break, and I have to jot it down really quickly so that I'll remember when I return. If the break doesn't help, then I just try to power through it. I may have to switch projects, but I keep writing; I don't stop.
