Hey Tom, Sorry I'm so late in responding haven't been on here lately. Just wanted to say thanks, I dig the cover too though I can't take any of the credit. I asked for dark and gritty imagery, was going for a more noir-esque vibe and suggested a cityscape in the background, but that's where my input ended. Zharmae got a very talented artist who took it to another level. I look forward to see what he does with the second book in the series. Should have that cover in the near future. Hope things are going well with Timberwolf!

Thanks Steven! The artist did an outstanding job on the cover, I completely agree. I am a fan of werewolf flicks, for sure. Dog Soldiers tops the list and was the inspiration for the wolves in The Endangered. I like An American Werewolf in London (and the "in Paris" remake, as bad as it is, I will admit to being entertained by) and Wolf - Jack Nicholson as a werewolf?! Now that's some good casting right there. I enjoy some of the the more recent entries in the genre too, mainly Blood & Chocolate and Underworld series.

Hi Evan! So sorry for the late response, I just saw this post. Great question. I liked the challenge of blending genres, I think it helps keep the story less predictable and gives the writer a lot to work with within the different tropes. I am a big detective fiction fan, so that element came more naturally. I'm also a big fan of vampire stories, even took some college coursework on eastern european folklore - but this was the most difficult part b/c so much iconography is already preconceived in popular culture - it was a challenge to write vampires and werewolves that were recognizable to readers and avoid being too cliche (or at least try to).

A sequel has been ordered by my publisher and is currently in the works. Aiming for a trilogy, but right now all I can promise is a sequel :-)
Look for it in spring/summer 2015. Hope you enjoy!
