Wayne Grant Hi Margaret, I just saw your question this morning. Usually I get email notices when I have questions on Goodreads, but didn't on this one. Thanks for your kind words and sorry for my delay in responding. I'm currently doing research for Book 2 and hope to have it out by late summer 2021. If you go to my webpage www.waynegrantbooks.com you can sign up for my newsletter. I won't flood your email inbox but I do give occasional updates on how the new books are progressing. Best regards, Wayne.
Wayne Grant Hi Greg, I'm doing research for Book 2 now and hope to start writing after the holidays. With luck I'll have the next book out sometime in (late) summer 2021. And thanks for the kind review! Wayne
Wayne Grant Hi Steve, and thanks for the question--it's timely! I've just announced that I'll publish Declan O'Duinne--Book 6 in The Saga of Roland Inness in early November. This story takes place about a year after the events in A Prince of Wales and for once, Roland's boon companion, Declan, takes center stage. He's summoned back to Ireland where trouble is brewing and Roland goes with him. As for that other conflict--our friend de Ferrers remains in exile in France, but the clock is ticking and we will definitely see him in Book 7!
Wayne Grant Well, I am a bit biased in favor of my young protagonists, Roland Inness and Millicent de Laval from The Saga of Roland Inness--for obvious reasons. Beyond my own creations, though I would probably surprise my wife by voting for Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy.
Wayne Grant Hi Adam,

Thanks for the kind words about the Roland Inness Saga! Any comparison to the Saxon series (one of my all-time favorites) is humbling.

I am currently a bit over half done with book 3 in the series and have realized that I won't be able to finish the story in my head in 3 books. So the basic series arc will now be four books, at which point I hope readers are happy with how the whole thing ends.

I have another historical fiction story that has been nagging at me to do after Roland, but I will say, that there is a lot of interesting history between the end of Book 4 and Magna Carta that could supply inspiration for more Roland books.

Thanks again for the support!
Wayne Grant The truth is, this trilogy, beginning with Longbow, began as a serial bedtime story for my two sons years ago. They kept asking for more stories about this squire I had invented and, after a time, I could not just keep spinning these tales off the top of my head. So I started writing down each episode to read to the boys--one per week. After several months I looked back and it suddenly occurred to me that these "episodes" in the story were chapters in a book. No one was more surprised than me at that revelation. So I then took it on with a bit more serious intent and completed Longbow as a novel.
Wayne Grant I am over half finished with the third book in the Saga of Roland Inness series. It will be published in late 2015.
Wayne Grant For me, being able to tell a good story and create unique characters is just fun. The writing process itself also has some rewards. I most like to write dialogue. If I can get an exchange down that really "sings" that is very satisfying and I will work hard on dialogue to make sure that happens with some regularity.
Wayne Grant Honestly, I've not yet experienced that problem. There have been times when I've struggled over where the plot was heading, but never for long, so can't call that a block. I look forward to having writer's block so I can take a few days away from the latest project!
