K.L. Cottrell This is a hard question! I think there have to be two parts to my answer.

Among the couples I've written, my favorite pair is either Liv and Landon from "Feels Like Forever" or Beckett and Noelle from "Delicate." Their love stories are so moving to me, and they challenged me the most. As much as I love my other guys and girls, these people have a special place in my heart because of the certain heartbreaking things they've gone through. They end up finding out just how strong they can be and how beautiful life is in spite of all their nightmares and struggles and emotional rollercoasters; by the time the books are over, they've managed to find true peace and happiness with each other.

My favorite fictional couple from something I didn't create is Kaz and Inej from the Six of Crows duology. Those characters are written so well and they moved me so much. I've also always loved Rose and Dimitri from Vampire Academy.
K.L. Cottrell Hi, Marie! This is kind of a hard question to answer! I know it sounds vague, but different kinds of music inspire me in different ways.

Sometimes it's an entire song that gets me and sometimes it's just a line or two. Other times, just the music gives me a certain feeling that I think should be written about. One example is the instrumental aspect of "What If This Storm Ends?" by Snow Patrol. That music never fails to give me chills because I think it's expressive in so many ways; the lyrics are special to me, too, and altogether I always felt like the song matched my trilogy really well.

A few other songs feel that way with other romances I've published, like "Mercury" by Sleeping At Last and "Piece Of Your Heart" by Mayday Parade.

It's not like this all the time, but if a song is about opening up or loving someone, it usually moves me to write. There are so many stories to be told (and so many I witness every day with people I know) that revolve around those themes, and sometimes songs just don't feel big enough to tell them.
K.L. Cottrell For me, the most awesome thing about being a writer is having no limits on my imagination. I'm a creative person and always have been, from loving books to dancing and teaching dance to having a deep appreciation for music. I love building people and situations and, in some cases, worlds. It's therapeutic for me, even when the people and problems I write about have little or nothing to do with me; it's like my own weird way of solving problems. I also just love being able to entertain myself in such a boundless way - sometimes even I don't know what's going to happen next! Just so much fun.
K.L. Cottrell I am inspired by people, mostly, although songs sometimes plant ideas in my head. I draw from myself for some aspects of my writing, but my main thing is weaving in struggles and experiences from people I know. Even the Light Trilogy, clearly fictitious as it is, got started because of a painful experience that someone I know had.
