S.C. Jensen We're out of coffee. Even the instant crap is gone.
S.C. Jensen Don't aspire. Just write! We all have stories. It's part of what makes us human. Learning to write is less about mastering some arcane skill and more about allowing ourselves to try and to fail. And to try again. You don't have to be good to start writing. You get good by writing.
S.C. Jensen I don't wait for inspiration. I just write. Some of it ends up being crap. Some of it ends up being good. The act of writing tends to be what generates ideas. Of course, other books and films often offer jumping off points.
S.C. Jensen Have another look at my outline. For me, writer's block is usually a symptom of a plot hole I'm aware of subconsciously. If all else fails, I go for a walk or a bike ride... exercise always helps!
S.C. Jensen I would join Iain M. Bank's "Culture" ships and live life among the stars... maybe as a human-jellyfish hybrid with tentacles for hair and bioluminescent organs.
S.C. Jensen I want to finish reading all of Raymond Chandler's novels and novellas!
S.C. Jensen I needed a break from the dark science fantasy world of The Timekeepers' War trilogy after I finished drafting Book 3. I wanted to write something fun and quirky with lots of humour and glittery bits.

The Bubbles in Space series is like a Sci-Fi love letter to Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett and the other hard-boiled noir greats. It's the gritty underbelly of our future, all tarted up for a night on the town.

It still ended up a bit dark. That's just how I roll. But Tropical Punch is fun, first and foremost.

Also, since I quit drinking three years ago I really wanted to write a sober character. And that's how Bubbles was born!
S.C. Jensen I'm currently drafting Bubbles in Space Book 2: Chew 'Em Up, which goes to my editor on April 22 and will be released May 29th, 2021!
S.C. Jensen Going "to work" in my pajamas and battling existential dread.
