So many wonderful couples floating and living in literature. I'll have to go with one that has always styed with me. the story of Griffin and Sabine. The story, the art, the passion, the mystery. the strength of love through distance and the faith in the truth behind their love. a beautiful and exceptionally well thought out story. This first appeared twenty five or so years ago, and it still delights and enchants.

The idea, the basic idea, for The Devil's Jukebox actually came to me years ago. Many years ago. I was on tour with my old Vancouver band, and I just started thinking about the Muses and inspiration. How things have changed. How the things that inspired artists centuries ago are no longer the things that inspire us now. What happened to those muses, those inspirations - if they are immortal, they have to change and stay alive with the shift of time.
The idea for the novel I am currently working on came from a cocktail menu that sat in front of me as I enjoyed some whiskey with a friend.

For me, music always inspires. A chorus, a phrase, a note. Sometimes even the space between notes. The feelings that music create drives the words that fall out of me.

Currently working on a follow-up to The Typewriter Keeps Me Awake at Night, and a second Novel - similar to The Devil's Jukebox in that the genre, I think, is still Paranormal Pop Fiction, but with more alcohol. (In the story, not the author.)

Read what inspires you, listen to music. Write anything. Be open to that inspiration but try to avoid being influenced.

For me - the best thing is the ability to create a slightly more solid version of the images and ideas that get stuck in my head. I can't paint or draw - well... not well - but with the writing, I can shape things the way I want them to be shaped.

It varies, actually. Usually I just walk away from whatever is blocking me and start writing something else - a poem - a paragraph - a song - that has absolutley nothing to do with the main story that I'm trying to write. I find the best cure for a block is to find another route that will allow words to flow - and then I can shift the flow back towards the main stream.
