R.P. Andrews A contemporary gay novella set in my adopted home of Fort Lauderdale about two young hunky guys from Jersey with nothing who go down to Lauderdale to make some easy money as paid escorts. Or so they think, until their quick rich scheme blows up in their faces with some pretty serious consequences.
R.P. Andrews I hate to admit it but “The Czar of Wilton Drive,” again set in contemporary Fort Lauderdale, is largely autobiographical. I lived almost every page in the book. That and my cynical view of the Lauderdale gay scene, so lauded in our local gay media, also inspired me to tell a story that better reflected what’s really going on beyond the gloss and 2-for-1 drink specials.

R.P. Andrews Again by my desire, yes a drive, to shape a world that’s real yet uniquely mine.
R.P. Andrews Don’t fart around fantasizing about becoming a writer. Get your thoughts together, look at your life experiences or use your imagination, formulate a storyline and start writing. I found doing a daily blog sharpened my thinking and writing skills, even after 30 years as a PR exec.

R.P. Andrews Creating your own world within a world you can share with your readers. I’m not a si-fi or fantasy writer. My stories are set in contemporary reality, a reality I then mold but one my readers can relate to.
R.P. Andrews I plot out all of my books on a grid and jot down key attributes of my characters, both personality and appearance, and let it all percolate in my head for a while – weeks, maybe months – before I sit down and just write. So I’m usually pretty prepared to get some kind of draft down on paper. And even I think it sucks in the beginning, I keep plowing through till the creative streak suddenly overtakes me.
