Lots of things. I can be reading another story or see something on TV. I can be walking in the country. I can overhear a conversation or see someone who looks interesting. Places are a great inspiration - foreign cities, gloomy houses, mountains, glaciers. This morning a friend posted an image of a beaver's foot on Facebook. She'd found it while staying in Norway. It had been half eaten. Now that's a story that has to be written...

I don't get it. I treat writing like a job. I sit down and write. That's it. What comes out can be varied depending on how I am at that time (happy, sad, bored, hungover...). But it can always be reworked.
