Hey Cassie, thanks for the note!
I'm thrilled you loved the book, and yes, I'm working on Book 2 of the series now, to be published this fall, most likely in October. I'm happy to tell you that the second book will definitely explore the Porlo/Eloa relationship and I'll be excited to hear what you think!
Thanks again for getting in touch, Cassie (And I know the look you're mother gave you well, because I still get it from my mom all the time :)

Thanks for the question, Avery, good intuition. Yes, there is definitely a connection between Porlo and Eloa that's a significant plotline throughout Book 2 and possibly beyond. Out of curiosity, is a relationship between those two characters something you would like to see explored?
Avery Michelle
Yes! I would really love for something to happen between them two, it would totally be the most adorable thing in the world! At first I was thinking L

Hey Avery-
To answer your question honestly, I THINK I am an author or something, but with only one published book I can certainly understand the confusion.
Working on book 2 as we speak to try to solidify that author title a bit more

Hey Holli, glad you liked it!
I've got my Book 2 notebooks in front of me right now and the first draft is coming along nicely. Hoping to publish sometime in the spring, so sit tight! I'd love to hear your thoughts on Book 1; what you liked, what you didn't, where you'd like to see the story going from here. If you have the time, shoot me an email (bentzdeyo@gmail.com). Thanks! Talk soon

The idea for my first and most recent book, in its simplest form, came to me when I was zoning out during a particularly boring slideshow in Theatre History class my junior year in college. I was a big Harry Potter fan (still am) and I thought to myself: “What would those books be like if I, the reader, didn’t truly now if Harry would turn out good or bad?” Luckily the class that day was not only dull but long, and I was able to brainstorm ideas that might make the tricky premise of a book like this believable. By the time the projector whirred off and the lights flickered back on, I had something.

I am currently immersed in the first draft of the second book of The Undelightened series.

The best thing about being a writer is that each day is different. Yes, every single day, you, the writer, may sit down at the same desk at the same time with the same mug of coffee resting the same amount of inches to the left of the computer, but once you’re in it—once your writer’s matchbook sparks those fireworks that burst colorfully and without direction inside your head—everything transferred from fingertips to keyboard, or pen to paper, is wonderful and new.

Writer’s block suffocates the confidence you have in your abilities; therefore, to battle it, you must breathe life into your work to keep it from dying. When Writer’s block attacks me, I try to tell myself to get three sentences down, even if they reek of garbage, even it takes five brutal hours, if only to let that freaking Writer Block guy know that I’m not giving up. Three meager sentences? Don’t run and tell the neighbors, but it’s fine, that’s three sentences I don’t need to write tomorrow. As long as a writer keeps breathing (writing), his best work and his confidence will come back with vengeance and he’ll be armed with a fabulous weapon that he mightn’t yet have attained: that he will never fully be defeated.

The best advice I can offer aspiring writers is to never try to emulate the works of established authors or aspects of their writing. That leads only to timidity, frustration and doubt. The one thing that separates you from them is you. You alone have a distinctive style and a unique combination of strengths. When you write from you, your writing is original, and that should be the goal. We already have a Steven King (thank God), so we don’t need another.

How I harness inspiration depends on whether I’m sitting down to write in the morning or late at night after my wife and baby have gone to bed. Mornings, I usually get started by flipping through a few random pages of an old, small notebook of mine scribbled in with quotes that inspire and book passages that evoke passionate emotions. Late at night, I strap on the headphones and pop on a song that pushes me toward the mood of the scene I’m about to write. Most of my ideas, though, come to play inside my head during my evening runs.
