Just do it! Writing is a craft, a skill, and it takes time to hone it. Reading about improving your craft is important, but no substitute for practise. Write anything, and write often. Above all else, write what you love, because a lack of love will show to readers.

Take a break from what I'm working on and writing something else. It's important to try and write every day, but sometimes the words won't come, which is a sign to step away for a while to give the imagination time to breathe.

It's hard to pick just one thing, but I suppose it's the act of bringing my characters to life through words, creating moving stories about characters that people care about.
