Christine D. Shuck Marooned on a mountain with everything needed for survival. No way to leave and no books or anything to write with.
Christine D. Shuck I live in a house built in 1899. Upstairs, the remains of servant's stairs were apparently turned into narrow-depth closets all in a row, but opening onto opposite sides of the house (hard to explain, but bear with me). On one side, the closets are 17" deep, on the other, 19". The base of the servant's stairs, of which only one stair remained when we bought the house, is 34" deep. We have never been able to figure out what happened to the other 15-17" - I keep telling everyone there must be a body in the walls!
Christine D. Shuck First - Stop dreaming about it, put your nose to the grindstone and WRITE. I put hundreds of roadblocks in my own way, delaying the process. Don't question yourself or think "it's all been written."

Second - Be ready to market yourself. Marketing isn't a bad word. It isn't any different than going to work and dressing for success. But if you want folks to read what you have written, you are going to have to put it out there.

Third - The book is not your baby. Learn to take (and learn from) criticism.
Christine D. Shuck I remind myself that it is either this or clean toilets, dust and vacuum all day.

Besides, I really enjoy writing. Dirty toilets, not so much.
Christine D. Shuck Marketing...The Hired Gun (an erotic thriller)...Marketing...and dabbling in Steemit
Christine D. Shuck I take a secret dark thrill in killing people - in the literary sense, not the literal one.
Christine D. Shuck By crying, swearing and banging my head on the wall.

No, seriously, I don't really. I don't believe in writer's block - I do however believe there are times when I should not be writing (can't push a rope) and times when I really need to walk away from marketing and just WRITE. It's balancing those two that is truly difficult for me.
Christine D. Shuck My most recent book, Gliese 581: The Departure, is actually a compilation of two stories: a trip to another planet with a saboteur aboard and a devastating virus.

I originally thought of the devastating virus while waiting in a drive-thru lane around 20 years ago. The thought went like this, "What if a woman came driving up to the window, stark naked, put her car in park and proceeded to eat ten combo meals until her stomach exploded?"

Yeah, well, maybe I shouldn't have shared that, now you all know what dark places my mind goes to.
