Vincent Bevins Hopefully I will be able to officially announce this soon! But Brazil remains central to a lot of what I do, and I think that will remain true for a long time

Vincent Bevins Good question. I suppose culture is always relevant, but in this case I would not list it as the main reason for the deviation in historical remembrance. Instead, I'd point to what you identified - that the US-backed military won a much more profoundly final victory in Indonesia in 1965, and the same institution remains very powerful today.

I admit I had no idea about the magnitud of the massacre in Indonesia and its impact on global politics? I have shared on FB a post regarding the book.
