An interesting question - thanks!
Of course, the city would have been different, and there would have been so many places to visit and characters to run into. I would definitely have included the Mended Drum and the Canting Crew (being a particular fan of Foul Ole Ron).
I would also have tried to build each encounter around a joke, and kept the action entirely within the city instead of adding a dungeon section at the end - unless, of course, the dungeon section became a satire on dungeon adventures!
Finally, the ending would have had more of a sting in it, becoming a reflection on the unfairness of the world in general (and of Ankh-Morpork in particular) and the inevitability of hopes and expectations being dashed. But in a funny way.
Thanks again for the question. If anyone ever puts out a call for writers for Discworld gamebooks, I'll be at the front of the line!

I awoke from a deep sleep, feeling more refreshed than I had in a long time. When I went to get up, my forehead hit a satin-lined lid.

When I was doing the primary-source research for "Colonial Horrors: Sleepy Hollow and Beyond," I realized just how many great stories - and authors - are at risk of being forgotten. Some writers were legends in their time, and some are so well known today for their work in other genres that their forays outside their usual territory are overlooked - unjustly in my opinion.

Right now I am working on a fiction anthology that traces the development of airborne adventures from the Steampunk origins of Verne and Wells through the early 20th-century ripping yarns of boy (and girl) aviators to the Dieselpunk and Airpulp adventures of the 1930s. Not to give too much away, but it includes tales by some writers you might not expect to see here.
