Sonal Panse How I kept my Mystique and Never Ever Revealed it to a Random Questioner. That one.
Sonal Panse Write with clarity and authenticity.

Be observant of everything around you and the people you meet/see. Try to consider things from different perspectives without automatically jumping to judgment or simply accepting commonly held beliefs. Keep a journal.

Read a lot and read widely, not just in your particular genre. Study word usage, sentence structures, descriptions, character development, story development, plot arcs, expression of ideas, dialogues, and so on. However good you are, there are always people that are miles and miles better, and you need to learn from them if you want to improve.

You should always want to improve.

Don't take yourself too seriously though. There are enough sacred cows.
Sonal Panse I whinge and moan, and when a well-wisher stops to tell me 'This too shall pass', I latch on to their ear and don't let go for hours. I've never yet got a talker's block. So, ahem, be warned. Don't ask me such questions.

Seriously, I do two other things. I milk the situation by writing about it - http://www.maysuninc.com/articles/wri... – and I work on several projects simultaneously. So if I get stuck on one, I leave it for the moment and move on to another.

Finishing another thing generally gives me the energy and enthusiasm to return to work more effectively on the previous one. Unless, of course, it's a complete dud that needs to be abandoned for the continuing good of humankind.
Sonal Panse I want to find out what happens next in my story. If I don't write, I'm not going to find out. So I take myself by the scruff and get inspired.
Sonal Panse Your imagination gets a daily airing, and, if you allow it to, your mind can expand and spill over.
Sonal Panse I'm currently working on the following -

First Draft of Non-fiction Children's Book – 'Mughal Miniatures' (working title, could change)

Illustrations for Picture books – 'The Blue Parrot', 'The Golden Bird', 'The Rain Maker', and 'Good Morning, Chickalina'.
