There are three stories of how I came to be: the conventional one, the one close friends and family were told…and the truth. I've told the full story in my memoir (Acts of Surrender: A Writer's Memoir); but I've adapted the story and used it in my Sara Stories novels (Sara's Year, After Sara's Year, The Emmeline Papers).
