At the risk of sounding pompous, I've never really had to deal with wrtier's block. I've been able to sit down and churn out a story, even if it at first looks like utter garbage to me. When I read up on it, I heard that this was the best way to get through it: keep writing, even if you absolutely hate what you wrote, then go back when you're feeling more "inspired." This is something I pretty much do anyway. So maybe I just "cracked the code" on my own? I dunno.

The deep sense of accomplishment when you finally.... FINALLY ... finish that book!

Write. Don't make excuses; don't talk about wanting to write; don't complain or worry; just write. The best advice I ever got as a writer was just that. The trick to becoming a writer ... is to write. Period.

A sci-fi romance that feels more like fantasy than the former. A tale of a spoiled prince, who, after committing a horrendous act, is sentenced to three years in an underground kingdom as the husband for a princess of the Naga, half-human, half-snake creatures of legend. I call it "The Tribute."

Lots of things inspire me. Music, shows I watch, books I read, things I see in magazines or on the Internet. Inspiration can hit at the drop of a hat for me. It also helps to be very easily entertained. Some writers have to squeeze a few drops of brain juice out at a time. For me, it often comes in torrents. That's not to say that I don't have dry spells; they only come infrequent for me.

It was a combination of ideas, actually. I think the original idea was from a race I once saw in Tenchi Muyo, in addition to my love of catgirls. To make Felyans a polymorphic species was an idea that came together after reading about the Ildiran race from Kevin J. Anderson's Saga of the Seven Suns. And of course, I was a big fan of Star Trek. Of course, now, I know, scientifically speaking that our being genetically compatible with any alien race would be practically zero, I believe my idea for the Felyans was a good way to gt around it. So I'm not just playing fast and loose with my science.
