(view spoiler)[Taking Names is the sequel to Type N and one I hadn't planned on writing. It was always supposed to be a standalone novel until readers continued asking for more. So I added "To be continued" on the end of the book and decided to go for a sequel.
In Type N, Nic and Jason are happily secluded by the end of the novel. So the obvious question was: what if they were discovered and their idyllic happily ever after was disrupted? I'm exploring a change in Nicolette at this point because her response up until this book has been to run away from those pursuing her. Now, she's actually fighting back. (hide spoiler)]

I'm observant and constantly look at a situation (mine or someone else's) and ask "what if?" Type N came from me looking over my blood results and asking "what if?" Remember Me came from me looking at a scene in The Walking Dead and asking "what if?"
"What if?" is a powerful inspiration tool.

My latest novel, Taking Names, hits stands November 7th. I'm managing the release and promotion of that book but have started my next novel, an interracial new adult romance, this month.

Write. As a writer who does this professionally, I can't tell you how many times I hear, "I want to write a book." or "I enjoy writing." The difference between those who aspire to do it and those who are doing it - is simply a matter of actually doing it!
Decide what you want to write, commit to doing it, write the book and decide how you want to release it (if you do). Publish it the traditional track or indie or both (like I have). Just do it.

There's the writing aspect of being a writer and the reader response aspect of being a writer. When it's just me and the story, I love being in control of the circumstances, the characters, and everything that's going on. Writing is the only setting in which you can play God and have full control over everything in that world.
On the flip side of releasing it, it brings me so much joy to see the reviews of readers and the responses of those who have read and enjoyed my work. There's a special thrill that comes when a reader will casually refer to a character's name as if the character is real. I love it!

I usually don't get it. Coming up with new ideas isn't a problem. Figuring out how I'm going to write each book generally is. I recently told friends: writing a book is like giving birth to a child. And no two births are alike. How do I deal with it? I pray and seek direction on how to write the book in front of me. It's worked so far :)
