Hello, my apologies for not answering sooner. There was an emergency at the library and the event was cancelled (to be rescheduled when the organizer returns to work hopefully in the spring) I have done the same presentation before at other events/libraries and it has always been well-received. If you'd like to attend I'll be participating in panels/workshops at Kitchener Comic Con February 29th & March 1st 2020.

It will! The preorder will be up before the end of the year :) It's going to be a bumpy ride for Treacle's finest.
Thanks for your interest - I'll post again once Sashimi is up on Kobo.

Hi!
I have a system.
I actually had a number of books written well before I published which allowed me to set the wheels in motion. At all times I have 7-8 stories going in various stages. One could be first draft - two or three in later drafts - at the editors - making edits - etc...
When one publishes another begins.
I should mention that this year I finished two series - I was sitting on them, releasing slowly, and decided it was better to release them all at once for the readers collecting them.
This is a 7 days a week job for me. I write every day. I market everyday. I redraft and edit everyday. I also read everyday.
Thanks for asking :)

Thank you so much for your comment.
As for my depression, I understand it is going to be a life-long journey for me. I will always have my up days and my down days. Luckily, the worlds that other authors create, as well as my own, will always be there. Taking things one day at a time is the best anyone can hope for.
The more books I write the brighter the light at the end of the tunnel shines. Every kind word from a reader; every piece of fan art; and every review left, warms me inside. Just knowing I have made a small difference in someone else's life is uplifting enough to make moving forward not only possible, but necessary.
Happy Reading - Carol Ann

Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet.
Jane Austen created the perfect love story in Pride and Prejudice. I don't think there are many who would argue that. There is a certain realism in the relationship between Elizabeth and Darcy that many newer romances sadly lack.
It's not love at first sight, but rather a building of feelings overtime. There's a message to the world as well - Love takes sacrifices. One needs to put aside one's own idiosyncrasies aside to be truly happy in the arms of another.
I have to admit, I also have another, more personal reason for choosing this couple. My parents had their own love story. When they first married and times were tough, they read Pride and Prejudice to each other every night in bed. It was all the entertainment the had and needed.
Sadly, they are both gone now. When I think about Darcy and Elizabeth, I can still see the way mom's eyes would light up at the mention of their names.
Love is a beautiful thing.

The wonderful thing about Fantasy is there isn't a lot of research. No one can argue with you about whether you are correct or not if you made up the details.
It's like building your own monster at Halloween for decoration. Since it is your creation, only you know what it is supposed to look like.

Hello,
Thank you for your question. The answer, however, is a little more complicated than you may think.
At the beginning of any series, I always know how it starts and how it ends. The story in between is what changes.
Every character has a certain path that they must travel before any series ends. Their destiny, like our own, is not set in stone. When I write, I choose the best way for them to learn the lessons they need to learn. Since character personalities evolve through each book, it often comes down to a split second decisions. I don't know the ending for them until the time comes to write it.
I hope that answers you question.

I think of my characters like children. In the beginning of a series, they are in their "raw" form and that is deliberate on my part. I want the reader to be there and actually see what makes them who they are.
In my personal opinion there isn't enough time in one book to experience the growing pains of life. In a series, however, you have a chance for not only the protagonist to learn, but, also really delve deep into expanding on the supporting characters as well.
It's important to me, that if a person takes the time to read my books, they can fully invest their emotions into every aspect. When you meet a character, they have a purpose and aren't just there for page filler. To me, there is nothing worse than having someone introduced into a story and never hearing about them again.

Wow, you ask the one question I think all fantasy authors dread answering. Explaining “what is it about”, without any major spoilers can be a most difficult task for even the most seasoned writer. Having said that, here’s what I can safely say…
The main protagonist, Willow, is a teenage girl growing up on her own in a magical world where the events of the past are a mystery. A series of events set her and her friends on a journey like no other, leading them to a new understanding of themselves, their feelings and their abilities. As they begin to unravel all that previously transpired, they find themselves the sole opposition to a plot that could destroy all existence. The one clue they have is a book filled with hundreds of predictions called ‘The Portal Prophecies’. Deciphering them however, will not be an easy task. Written by someone from their past, the pages are lined with riddle like poems. Even worse they appear to be in no particular order.
Each book is based on a different prophecy leading our heroes and heroines to new places and new friends while experiencing growing pains along the way. The entire series, delves deep into the understanding of magic and self-discovery, all the while questioning the right versus wrong equation on personal levels.
As the books progress, readers will find some new explanations for old tales, myths, legends, folk lore and unusual phenomena that could just make them question the validity of stories we all have grown up with. Vampires, Witches, Ghosts, Monsters, Santa Claus, Atlantis, Elves, Dragons, Faeries, find out the alternate truth to them all.
If you have further questions feel free to ask. Thanks for your interest in my books!
