Do you know the ending before you start writing pt1 of a trilogy?

Thank you for your question. The answer, however, is a little more complicated than you may think.

At the beginning of any series, I always know how it starts and how it ends. The story in between is what changes.

Every character has a certain path that they must travel before any series ends. Their destiny, like our own, is not set in stone. When I write, I choose the best way for them to learn the lessons they need to learn. Since character personalities evolve through each book, it often comes down to a split second decisions. I don't know the ending for them until the time comes to write it.
