My most recent book, Her Heart's Desire, comes from my twelve years in Kansas. There is so much I love about Kansas. The sunrises, sunsets, the open spaces and a sense of vastness--history of the pioneers trekking across uncharted territory. I had the greatest community of friends in Kansas City. I miss them dearly. But at the end of the day, this girl is southern and had to move home.

Settings inspire me. Settings are so important in my books. Setting is a character unto itself. If I need people inspiration, I hang out at the grocery store late at night. My kind of people show up then. :-)

The best thing about being a writer is knowing you're not really crazy. When men, women, children, and even animals --primarily dogs--talk to you in your head...the chatter can be deafening--until I write. Otherwise, what do I do with all that noise?

Teresa,
*Fingers crossed* I am hoping before the end of the year the second book will launch. However, I'm finishing up Bayou Brides, book 4 in the Fleur de Lis series AND I have a novella I want to put out...but I'm thinking it will be for Mardi Gras...anyway, Dec. that's the target. Thanks so much for asking.

I'm sooo excited! I'm working on Bayou Brides, Book Four of the Fleur de Lis series, Book two of the Sunflower series--Craig's story, but it doesn't have a name yet, and a women's fiction story with a working title of Secrets. Each book has a different appeal, a different feel, and I love all of my characters.

The advice that I didn't understand, thus didn't heed--don't be in a hurry. Write book two and three before you ever worry about selling book one.

Writers block...it's when I try to force a story in a direction. Characters clam up. What I do is stop. Move to some other writing project, stop forcing the story, then go back to it. And if that does work--Drink like Hemmingway. :-)
