I don't wait for inspiration any longer, that is a mistake that I made early on. Now I write, inspired or not. But sometimes when I am reading a novel something will catch my eye, a quote, a passage, and I my mind will be off. I'll dig out my iPad and write it down before I lose the thought.

I step away from my WIP and write something completely different. I might participate in a Flash Fiction contest or write a silly blog post. Anything to keep me writing and to jump-start my writer's mind. I also read and highlight passages in my favorite books that inspire me. Sometimes I find answers in places that I didn't expect.
