Kathleen Fuller For Love Made New I wanted to explore a couple of themes: what would you do if God asked you to give up everything (your future spouse, your home, your family) to do what He asked? I also wanted to explore the value of self-worth and self-acceptance through the heroine, who has also lost loved ones. In Never Forsaken, the theme is the same as all the books in the series--how to have faith amid tragedy.
Kathleen Fuller I don't. Most of the time I'm not inspired. Occasionally I'll read a book or watch a movie that will spur my creativity. But most of the time I just write. If I waited for inspiration I wouldn't write anything.
Kathleen Fuller Two books at the moment-- Love Made New (Book 3 in the Amish of Birch Creek series) and Never Forsaken (Book 2 in the Everlasting Faith series).
Kathleen Fuller Always be open to constant learning. Attend conferences and workshops and read, read, read. Once you're published, don't stop learning. You'll never "arrive" so always be looking for ways to improve your craft. The other important thing is to be persistent. I always have a Plan B, C, and D. Sometimes Plan E if I need it. If writing is your passion, never give up!
Kathleen Fuller Creating stories and characters. I love that part of the process--finding a new story and letting the characters speak to me.
Kathleen Fuller I don't get writer's block very often (fortunately) but when I do it usually helps to do one or all of the following things:

1) Brainstorm with a friend or another writer.
2) Work on a different computer.
3) Hand write notes about the book.
4) Change venues--I've written in coffee shops, restaurants, libraries, my car, hotels, diners, parks, ballet practice...
5) Set the book aside and work on something else.
6) Write from another POV.
7) Read or watch a movie that is a totally different genre/story than what I'm writing.
