Monday mornings are already precarious enough, but I knew for sure this particular Monday was trying to kill me when I walked into the break room, and saw the horrifying reality before me.

I feel bad about answering this one. I had a cat once, and she was an indoor cat. When the weather started getting warmer where I lived, she was always escaping out of the house. I kept letting her go out, and then one day, she didn't come back. I felt bad about losing track of her, and I hope she is okay, but I would really like to know what happened to her. I've had some neighbors tell me they still see her from time to time, but I haven't seen her in months. I have an idea for a mystery novel I'm going to incorporate that into, one of these days!

There are a lot of good fictional couples I like, for different reasons. From other authors' works, I probably like Kathy Tyers' "Firebird" series, with Firebird Angelo and Brennen Caldwell, the most. It's a series I've read several times, and I probably like them best because they don't just fall in love with each other, they have to find a way to work with each other. Falling in love is not the end for them.
When I write my stories, I believe the same things. Falling in love is grand, but love and trust must grow, and it has to be tied to other things in order to be real. I've read romance novels and seen movies where after three days or less, people are in love, and we all love that, but it also makes me cynical. I want lasting love, not caught-up-in-a-moment love, no matter how good and right it feels. I want a future. That's why with all of my own 'shipping, I make it clear that falling love is not a stagnant achievement nor an ideal accomplishment; it has to be only the beginning of a story that will go on long after I've stopped writing.

Book 2 in the series, among other things. I promise it'll be out soon.

I started writing when I was first diagnosed with depression in high school. It really helped me connect with myself and God, and I loved that. I still love that. Making something from less than great material is a gift that makes the suffering worth it.

No experience or situation is ever wasted. It forces me to live life more aware of who I am, how I change, what I feel, and focus on where I am going.

I switch to another project until it circles around. Sometimes I will get coffee with a friend or listen to music.
