I find that reading interesting articles or listening to things such as TED talks helps me to feel more creative. When I go running, I also tend to thing about what to write, so that helps as well.

My most recent books are new editions of Tertullian and Justin Martyr's apologies. I thought it would be nice to have an updated publication of these works, along with modern notes and commentary.

It really comes and goes for me. I like listening to TED talks while I'm in the car as these give me new thoughts and inspire me both to learn new things as well as to share what I have learned through writing.

My current interest is on the early Christian apologists of the first three centuries. So, I wanted to publish new editions of their works with my own notes and commentary. I've done Justin Martyr and Tertullian so far, and plan to add Athenagoras and Irenaeus soon. As I've been working on these, new thoughts have come to mind concerning the common themes in all these "apologies," and I would like to write a book about these themes.

Don't worry too much about the first draft. With anything I'm writing, I just try to get words on paper, so to speak, and worry about making it "pretty" later. Sometimes I'll even skip sections which I know I need to add later, making a note in the manuscript for myself to add information later. My main goal is just to get my thoughts down and then work on making them flow better during further revisions. For my first book, I think I rewrote it 3 or 4 times.

I enjoy learning new things and putting my thoughts down on paper. As I perform research for my writing, I find that I learn a lot in the process, both about the topic on which I'm writing as well as being a writer.
