No one wanted the body buried in sacred ground, so the prison guards interred the corpse in a forgotten corner of the penitentiary property. I found the burial plot two days later even though the grass had already grown green and thick on the dirt; there was no sign anyone had been buried there, except for the clean hand that poked out of the ground - I grabbed that hand and pulled my body out of the ground.

One of my all-time favorite fictional couples is Mary Chase and Jack Talent, featured in Kristen Callahan's paranormal romance called SHADOWDANCE. Mary and Jack have known each other for years, and Jack has been gruff and ill-tempered nearly every single day. Mary can't figure out why Jack seems to dislike her so much. His unmerited dislike triggers Mary's defenses. They squabble, they fight, and they're suddenly paired to find a killer who could very well be Jack, himself. Now Jack has to erect even more walls to protect himself from Mary - a woman who clearly thinks he's behind the murders in London. Little does she know that his secrets are far more demonic than that. In fact, he's crazy about her...and for that reason alone, he's got to protect her from himself more than ever.
Oh, good gracious, this book is phenomenal. I've read it multiple times and always find something new to enjoy about Jack and Mary's passionate spats and well-meant attempts to push each other away. But this type of attraction is more than skin deep. As the story progresses, the reader sees Jack's anguished love for Mary; and his inability to express the absolute truth of his devotion to her.
I don't want to give away too much about the plot, but Jack Talent and Mary Chase are wonderful characters with profound conflicts. Put them together and you've got romance GOLD.

Writer's block always goes away if I step away from the computer and take a walk. The mind is a funny thing; sometimes, doing something completely different will prompt a new idea that'll get my manuscript back on track.

The best thing about being a writer is being able to do what I absolutely love to do. Writing isn't work. It's fun!

I'd been working on a manuscript for ten years, but the quality, speed, and success of my writing improved astronomically when I joined a local Romance Writers of America chapter. Another great piece of advice I received was when my agent recommended I join a critique group. Luckily, I found three fellow romance writers who meet 3 miles away from my house! An incredible stroke of luck. We submit up to 10,000 words to the critique group every month and give each other feedback. Sometimes, it can be painful when your critique partners don't like what you've written, but I've found that my group is nearly always right. I have no idea where I'd be without them.

I'm a bit lucky, and a bit cursed. I never need to be inspired to write because I have to write. I just don't feel right if I don't have the chance to write about the characters in my imagination. It's so fun!

I visited a glassblowing factory and was amazed by the skill demonstrated by the men who were working with 2,400 degree melted glass. The entire process enthralled me, and I thought it would be really fun to write about a family-owned glassblowing factory featuring a brawny glassblower whose safe, lonely life is shattered by the arrival of a hot-shot marketing consultant.
