I don't know if I'll do a direct sequel, though I think I'd like to. I will say that my next book (Don't Go to Sleep) is connected to The Perfect Place to Die and acts as a sort of companion book to it.

Thanks so much! Yes, that's my plan for now. I'm currently researching and writing one that takes place in Kansas in the 1870s.

I hate naming favorites, so I'll just say the one that came into my head first: George and Martha, the two hippopotamus friends from picture books I read growing up. Why are they the first ones that occurred to me? I have no idea. But there you have it.

Ignore it. I don't get "librarian's block" when I'm at my library job. Sometimes I don't feel like going to work, but doesn't everyone? You go to work anyway. Sometimes I don't feel like writing, but I write anyway.

It's always changing. Easier for you to just check my blog to see what I'm up to right now.

For THE MEMORY THIEF, I got it from old Disney horror movies. Specifically Something Wicked This Way Comes.

I don't think I really get inspired to write. I'll have ideas occur to me, and I'll jot them down, but in the end, I write no matter what. No inspiration necessary! To me, writing is very much like a job. I don't get inspired to work in the library every day. Some days are better than others, of course, but I've found that if I just sit around waiting for inspiration, I might be waiting for a long time. Better to be writing while I wait for it.

Write. Don't just think about writing or talk about writing or read about writing. Write. Every day. Set a word count goal that's a stretch, but attainable, and then meet it day in and day out. That's what writing's all about.

Being able to have the story turn out just the way I want it. Too many times I'll watch or read something and like most of it, but be frustrated by a few parts. Maybe I don't like the ending or what a character does halfway through. As a writer, I have total control over that and can write it just the way I want it.
