My most recent book is the upcoming Tales of Sinanju: The Destroyer, book eight "Invisible Hand" in which I explain the controversial shutdown of the Federal Government as filtered through the Destroyer-verse. I wanted to show the POTUS as well as set up the situation leading towards the "bang" at the end of the graphic novel series.

Usually it's as simple as skimming through the favorite works of my top influences. But I also get inspired to create by learning new things that fill me with amazement and awe.

Books 6-10 of my current graphic novel series Tales of Sinanju: The Destroyer, based on characters created by Warren Murphy & Richard Sapir.

Get completed bodies of work behind you as soon as possible. Don't be the wannabe who always talks about that book he/she will eventually get around to writing, but ends up being more comfortable telling the tale than producing and then dying in that unfulfilled state. The sooner you get that first book done, the sooner you can begin making your mark in your chosen industry.

The best thing is that I get to leave a body of work that will live beyond me, possibly influencing the next generations of creators. The second best thing is that I am never bored. The combination of my writing plus cartooning is a major part of my personal identity, that takes very little money or preparation, to take with me anywhere.

In addition to keeping a list of projects available to tease and work on, I also like to explore character personalities in various hypothetical scenarios that take place within their world's continuity. This usually involves juicy dialogue, gags and action scenes that are always fun to write and I can always get in the mood for. I have often created an entire book around such scenes, that's how fun the exercises are, and they even lead to more and more ideas to build upon the Storyverse. This method works best with creators who are character-driven writers, who tend to really like to get into the characters' heads.
