Mirta Ojito Thank you so much. I hope so too!
Mirta Ojito I'll do it in one: Parents on a hike with their children were killed in front of them.
True story. I can't imagine how those children will fare in life.
Mirta Ojito I would be best friends with Jane Eyre. She was the first literary hero that captured my imagination. I was 13, and I think I decided then that would day I'd write a novel. It's taken decades, but I finally did. My first novel, Deeper than the Ocean, will see the light on Nov. 4th.
Mirta Ojito This is an old question, but I'm just now engaging with Goodreads as a reader and an author, so I'll answer now. I just read three I very much enjoyed, American Mother, All the Beauty in the World, and the Stolen Life of Colette Marceau. Very different books. Two non-fiction and one a historical novel. I read across genres and languages (English/Spanish) and also translations. I'm now reading a manuscript from a friend that I hope will become a book soon, and, after... not sure yet. There are so many! I have a TBR pile that keeps growing.
Mirta Ojito I dealt with this "mystery" in my first book, a reported memoir titled, Finding Manana: A Memoir of a Cuban Exodus. I set out to discover my own immigration story and to understand how and why the Cuban government had allowed more than 125,000 people to leave the island in 1980, and, more importantly, why and how the US had accepted all of us, despite the fears and the bad publicity.
