I watch lots of old WWII films and pick up a lot of books and articles. I recently watched the film "Mosquito Squadron" on television, with David Macullum of Man from UNCLE and NCIS fame. That was very interesting and helped steer the plot of my book.

My high school teacher made this easy: read anything you can get your hands on. Don't just read your favorites over and over, or pick up what other people were reading. Experiment. Try other categories. Read non-fiction. Read poetry. Read a scientific journal. My world as a writer opened up when I meandered outside the science fiction section at the library.

Writing isn't the problem for me, I can usually find inspiration to write. My big problem is the endless write, revise, toss, start again cycle. It's happened on two of my projects; both of which were second books of a series. I guess I just don't want to fall into the "mid-book" trap.
