Actually, I've already written that book! It's titled LEGACY OF SHADOWS and is a fictionalized memoir tracing through three generations in my family the origins of the mysterious symptoms I had in my late twenties and early thirties during a prolonged emotional fragmentation. It's still in print and apparently still moving readers.

If you finish a piece and are really happy with it, don’t leave it up to publishers to give it the thumbs up or thumbs down. The worst thing is to put it away in a drawer, never to see it come to fruition. While you’re waiting to hear from publishers or if you never do, find some way of making your piece into a finished product, even if it’s a hand crafted one-of-a kind. Sometimes they can be uniquely treasured.

The challenging process of writing itself is the best thing. One hurdle after another presents itself, and there’s a cycle of sensing a roadblock ahead and then, at last, overcoming it in some way I hadn’t previously imagined. I can’t plan out a book in too much detail because it would hamper me from having these discoveries.

I deal with writer’s block by painting! I’m very lucky to have these two outlets. I find that when I’m working in one medium for a span of time, it allows my unconscious to come up with ideas in the other medium.
