I traced our family tree back a few years ago and discovered a strange story about a young relative working for the Rothschilds at Ascot House in 1870. She was sent to London to marry quickly but returned to give birth to the baby in the village next to Ascot House. The rumour is that the child was fathered by Leopold Rothschild.

It would be Middle Earth! I adore Tolkien's LOTR and have read it 7 times.

A tough one. I heard author Bernard Cornwall (of Sharpe and The Last Kingdom fame) say that there is no such thing as Writer's Block. It happens because you try to make a character do something they don't want to do, or go somewhere they don't want to go. They have taken a wrong path. The solution is to rewind back to the crossroads and take a different path. Sounds easy in theory but hard in practice!

I have written another 2 books in The City of Winds series and am editing them. I am also writing the 4th one in the series (it hasn't got a title yet other than Book 4!), so that is a WIP.

I was working as a teacher in Baku Azerbaijan and was asked to teach a class about the Baku oil barons. I knew nothing about them and had little knowledge of Baku's history. I researched and found the topic so interesting that I wanted to set a story about a family living during the time of the first oil boom. The effect of the first oil boom and the terrible working conditions on the oil fields attracted Joseph Stalin to Baku. He found the oil workers ready for revolution.
