That's a great question! Actually, the most influencial mystery in life was when I was a child. My parents were divorced and I was raised by my mother. My mother's family was Appalachian Irish and Scottish. My father's parents were from Germany. As I grew up, I had noticed that I didn't act nor look like my mother's side of the family. I was always told I looked like my dad. He died when I was nine from Lung Cancer. I often would ask my mom if I had been adopted. It wasn't until I was an adult that I was able to meet my half brother. He told me I was the spitting image and personality of my Grandma Bruning.

My work in progress was inspired by the events that happened in the first book. I really want the Children of the Shawnee to showcase the Shawnee's perspective of what their world was like in the 18th century.

I have always loved to write. My grandmother noticed my writing talent when I was young. She encouraged me to explore my creative writing throughout my life. Writing was mainly a hobby for me even though I had plenty of teachers and professor who tried to encourage me to get published. It wasn't until my husband had suggested I follow my dreams that I took the plunge.

I generally have two or three writing projects going on at the same time. If I'm stuck on a book I'll just leave it, work on something else, and then go back to it.

I'm working on book 2 of the Children of the Shawnee series. This book will take my readers deeper into the spiritual beliefs of the Shawnee. It has more paranormal aspects to it than Calico did.
