Cameron D. Garriepy This one is easy. I lost an important friendship in my early thirties, and I never knew why. Procedural mystery isn't my thing, but a woman in search of what she might have done to drive someone away? That could absolutely be a plot.
Cameron D. Garriepy That's a great question, and not an easy one... I'm going to pick three! Jamie and Claire from Outlander come to mind, especially as they've aged and adventured together through the series. One of my favorite couples is actually from an obscure IT caper novel from the 90s: Verity Banks and Zoltan Tor from A Calculated Risk by Katherine Neville. And then the first romance couple I read when I was smuggling Nora Roberts titles home from the library as a teen: Caroline and Tucker from Carnal Innocence.

Oh, no! Wait, a bonus one! Dona St. Columb and Jean Benoit Aubrey from Frenchman's Creek by Daphne DuMaurier.

I think in all four cases there's a sense of being externally mismatched, but filling some quiet need in the other, and instead of grand romantic gestures or obvious declarations, their love stories are all rooted in understanding and responding to one another in the small moments.
