Narnia. I'd hang out with Lucy and have tea with Mr. Tumnus. I'd also join all the forest parties with the talking animals and look for Aslan.

Usually, I find that it's not that I have writer's block, but that the writing part of my brain is exhausted. So I find something else creative to do and give my writing mind a break. I'll take a walk and soak in nature as I think through the story, or I'll just forget about it for a while and make jewelry or color with my girls. Or I pick up a book and get inspired by another writer's story.

The best part is sinking into the story I'm writing and forgetting reality for a while. There's real magic in those quiet moments of creating, and I start to crave that feeling if I go too long without writing. I would write even if it was only for me.

Don't stop reading. Don't stop writing. Get a craft book that resonates with you and learn from others. But also, believe in your process and what works for you and do that. Pursue what makes you different and lean into it, even when others don't get it. And never give up.

I am working on book three in The Everlight Series! It's so fun to finish Ivy's story and I'm really happy with where it ends. I'm planning its release at the end of 2024 or latest, early 2025.

For me, there's nothing more inspiring than exploring a new place, whether it's a city street or a dirt path through the woods. I just crave being somewhere new. I can draw ideas from stones covered by moss, magical forests, and wide open fields, but I get a special thrill walking down a city sidewalk, passing fancy little shops, standing beneath towering stone buildings, or peeking through an old iron gate to spy the estate inside.

I started writing Secrets Ever Green ten years ago while living in Portland, Oregon. The Pacific Northwest is known for its rain, but also its lush green forests of leafy ferns, tall evergreens, and moss crawling up trees. Hiking through Forest Park was one of my favorite things to do, and now I imagine Ivy there, wandering through that quiet forest, dwarfed by trees.
