Walk around, do the ironing, drink wine, stare out of my office window at the sea - oh, and keep a notebook by my bed, because I often find that the best ideas come to me at 3am in the morning!

I love seeing and hearing my characters come to life. They are all extremely real to me and it is wonderful that you can take a blank piece of paper and magically, mixed with your own imagination, begin to see the development of characters that you have created.

It sounds simple, but write every day. Even if it is a few hundred words that you fit in among all the other busy things we all have to do. You will be amazed how those words add up!

My current book came about because of my love of Africa, and the fact that my husband and I sponsor a child at a school on the banks of the Zambezi River in Zambia. Having visited and met the inspirational children and teachers, and knowing I wanted to write a feel-good love story, it seemed like the perfect setting.

My latest novel which is curently WIP is a reworking of a classic 1874 love triangle (or should that be quadrangle as there are four people involved) but told in a modern and uplifting style, with a bit of humour - but more later!
