Go back to the start and read what you’ve written so far. You’ll edit it as you do it, but it’ll also get you back into the rhythm of the story. If you’re still stuck read other books of a similar genre. Do not plagiarise but they may give you ideas of where to take your story.

Never give up. If you have an idea then create it. Remember first and foremost you are your first audience. If you don’t like it change it, remove it or replace it. Only once you love reading your story ask others to read it.

A prequel to my first book, explaining how and why Max came to Earth around 50 BC. It’s fun researching life back then. Even though my books are fantasy I feel it’s important to keep any facts included as realistic and based on reality.

I’ve always loved sci-fi and fantasy. I grew up loving Doctor Who, Star Wars and Star Trek and more recently Heartstopper. About five years ago I kept getting this idea of aliens called shadowers. I think it was the imposter syndrome in me. Over time it kept growing as an idea. In May this year I had a few work projects delayed so I started writing down the plot and eight weeks and 101,000 words later Max and the Hidden Visitor was born.
