I do a lot of pre-production work before I ever sit down to draft a story. This tends to weed out the vast majority of those problems. I leave plenty of options open for the characters to decide for themselves which way to take the story, but I at least have the road map.

Writing stories, for me, is a form of self-medication. Some people use other more destructive means for this, but I prefer to escape to a world or time of my own device. When another reader gets enjoyment from my musings, it's icing on the cake.

Write, edit, and repeat. Find a sound mentor that's doing what you want to do and see if they will graciously take you under their wing. It's a tough racket.

I have several irons in the creative fire. I'm writing the second volume in the Everdark Saga, High Bluff Ransom. I'm also writing a second historical fiction novel, Barons. Beyond these, I've been getting several requests for the next installment in the Assassin Quintet. So, look for book three, Icarus Burning, to come out in that series.

Lots of things inspire me. It might me an idea, a poem, or a piece of artwork. I write stories that entertain me first and foremost. If I can't accomplish that, then the idea isn't likely worth it.
