I could never write down all the ideas that I get. Sometimes it's a spark or alternate story line from a movie or TV mystery. Just as often though it is from what is happening around us or what has happened in the past. I have a small tape recorder and can also record on my cell phone. If I like the premise I will make some audio notes. If I still like it after reviewing those notes I will write a general premise and put it in a file. The greatest way to be inspired is to always think like a writer. When you are out doing your errands can you find a story? Is there one at the grocery store, while waiting to get a hair cut? Why is the mail so late? Or can you put all three, or even more locations or events into your story.

The "Wands of Merlin" series was no doubt, germinated by the Harry Potter series. That seed, and my imagination, took the idea of there being practical magic in a modern world and placed it in an action packed adventure.
