Taking a breath, a day off, a hike. Anything to get my mind completely off putting words on a page.
I first like to brute force whatever couple hundred of words I can, then revisit them with context as to the emotion intended, and eyes free from the wearing of writing over and over again.

To be able to express and archive feelings that would otherwise be left rotting in my head.
Typically, falling back to thinking on negative emotions results in nothing good, but having a proper mindset toward yourself, and understanding what your prior actions, and challenges meant, means that you are capable of inspiring those that haven't taken this path into maybe finding themselves a little faster.

Don't delay. In some cases, there may be a project or idea that requires some rumination, but even then, find a way to develop it somehow. Use what you can with whatever means possible, and get your practice and mastery ASAP.
Even if file after file of one off inspirations get thrown in a folder somewhere, it's better to have made it happen, than be hesitant.
Remember that you can only improve.

Right now, I'm working on the second SSS book: "The Burden of Satisfaction." It's more of an act 2 than a sequel, and will close out the beginning of the cast's stories, as well as expand the world away from Baustas.
Life is pretty up in the air right now, but I'm hoping for Q2 or 3 of 2024 for release.

Music a lot of the time. As someone with deep connections to both film and music, my brain is wired to start blasting out a scene to whatever I hear, and is often how I end up getting some of my best lines!

Before Setting Sun Story became a book, it was a pseudo screenplay project that kind of acted like a diary for me. A lot of my teenage issues were put into this little world that I could over time, view from an outside lens. When I began to put 2 and 2 together on a lot of said issues, (before many, many more made their debut into life,) I realized that I had created something worthy of being shared with the world.
As for the setting, and inspiration for fights and worldbuilding, I'm a big fan of the RPG genre, as well as fighting games, and wanted to design systems that would seem fun to play, while still deeply connecting into the themes and acting as symbology for the more nuanced ideas that I wanted people to reflect on themselves.
