As many spooky places as I've lived, I can honestly say I've never had what I'd consider a true paranormal experience. I've lived in some creepy old houses with dim hallways and unlit corners, however, and those did lead to a general feeling of unease sometimes about what might be hidden in the darkness. Mostly it was just cockroaches, but that doesn't mean I haven't ever caught myself "whistling past the graveyard" to keep whatever spooks might be there at bay.

The easy answer is "yes," but in a somewhat different way. The next book is set in the present day, and one character from "Immaculate Deception" does show up (so far). So while many of the events that lead up to the cultural and sociopolitical circumstances in "ID" are in play, they don't figure largely in the plot of Novel 2 because it's set 15-20 years earlier.

The funny thing is, I don't get truly blocked. I get busy, I get unmotivated and sometimes I just get tired. But if I intentionally sit down to write, there's a 99 percent chance that words will end up being produced. Whether those words are any good and whether they will be in a significant quantity is a different story.
I chalk this up to having worked for 15 years in the newspaper industry, where reporters don't have the luxury of writer's block. If that 300-word story is due in 45 minutes for the early edition, no self-respecting city editor will tolerate such a diva move, so you learn how to just get it done.
