Currently I'm working on getting this recently published short story under the eyes of short story lovers. Special for Goodreads peeps, I've put it at my site in this cool epub converted, which makes it readable on any device. http://www.benobler.com/bibi/i/?book=SOG

Work hard and be patient. Treat it like you want to be a sprinter or decathlete. You have to train and work your life around it. That includes make sacrifices. I watched a ton of TV as a kid, but when I really got serious, that fell away. I watched Lost and The Wire on treadmills a decade ago, but since then, nothing. So what? I have 2 more book manuscripts finished and a lot of short stories.

Two things come to mind. One, being a writer is the reward, especially if you're able to make a living at it. The fact that my hands aren't on torque wrenches and lug nuts all day to make a living is the best thing about being a writer. The most rewarding part of it as a career is personal feedback from readers who are moved and engaged with the story you invented. That's pure magic.

I put the kettle on, and begin grinding some roasted coffee grounds. I take a filter from the cupboard and press it snugly into a drip cone, then set the cone atop an empty mug. Once I let the boiling water come down a few degrees, I trickled over the ground for 3 minutes. With the contents of the mug in my belly, my writer's block is usually eliminated.
