Clifford Browder 1. Stick with it, no matter what. If one kind of writing doesn't work out, don't try to quit, simply shift your sights and try another kind. I've gone from poetry to plays to biography to novels to nonfiction, not that I necessarily abandoned one definitively for another. Sometimes you just need a change of scene.
2. Don't be afraid to network, to get to know other writers. You can help them, and they can help you.

Clifford Browder I've never had writer's block. The ideas for my blog just tumble out, sometimes one at a time, sometimes several. There are times when they hit in the night, and I have to get up and scribble them down.
Clifford Browder The forthcoming book is a collection of posts for my blog, No Place for Normal: New York. The ideas come from personal reminiscences, historical research I did in the past, stories friends have told me, and walks in the city.
