The freedom it offers and also how ti develops self-discipline. I can't blame anyone else if I don't get anything done, only me. I like the personal responsibility it brings to the table. And holds me accountable to and for.

The poems from "Geography" were accumulated from many years when I decided to put them in book form following in the footsteps of Walt Whitman who also self-published. After all, only rarely do poetry books become best sellers. The actual poems found their inspiration from many different sources, some from painters I admire, others from simple experiences or things I've seen or experienced or imagined.

Just never give up. Period. Keep at it an learn all you can from writer's you admire and respect. Grab onto that dream like a pit bull and don't let go no matter what. If something you do doesn't work then do something else. You'll get it to work if you are relentless.

I have never had writer's block, in fact suffer from the opposite, too many ideas, etc. to fit into a given time quota. So I don't know what to say about this. I think part of not having this is having been a journalist for 23 years. And when they want the story or the review,, they want it and there is no such thing as writer's block. Being a journalist is great training for any writer. You learn to train yourself to write all the time under any circumstances. There are no excuses or reason why yo cannot write as a journalist unless you re dying in a hospital of something--and iif it does not effect your fingers or you can still write so you can't avoid it that way.

I am working a a new volume of poetry and several plays, both one acts and full length. I also have a fantasy novel that is part of a trilogy. I have a more literary novel I am working on as well. And of course I am busy as an actor as well, working in film, television and onstage. I worked on three different films in four days in early October 2014.

It was the natural development from me being trained as an artist, primarily a painter for my undergraduate work. I became curious about other means of expression, including poetry, fiction and later playwrighting. I sought out different media and lean what they had to offer my creative impulses. I found that some things are better expressed in some media than others at least for me.
