Hi Grace, thank you so much for letting me know that. I'm delighted. Yes, there is a third Rose Ransom marinating in my mind and I'm excited to start writing it. I want to focus more on the widows themselves. At the moment, however, I'm working on a novel called Appointment in Paris. It's the sequel to Midnight in Vienna which is published this September. It's set in 1938 in London and Vienna and is a mystery story on the eve of war.

Hi Ann, lovely to hear from you. The Clara Vine series as a whole is currently being developed for TV, so fingers crossed it will make the screens at some point!
Jane Thynne
Dear Gordon,
it's lovely to hear from you. The first, The Words I Never Wrote, is a standalone that is set around the war years and the fall of Berlin. It comes out in January 2020. The next is a Clara Vine novel, that I'm due to deliver shortly, set in 1942 in Vienna, Berlin and Hamburg. Really hope you enjoy them!

Hi Teri, I'm so pleased you're liking Clara Vine. Well, actually, two good things. I have a standalone coming out from Ballantine in January 2020 called The Words I Never Wrote. It's set both in the present day and Europe between 1936 to 1945. It involves some of my favourite themes - love, espionage and war - and tells the story of two sisters who are separated by ideology, and forced to make big moral choices. The climax centres round the fall of Berlin, which was a terrible and turbulent time. But....I am still writing the sixth Clara Vine novel, set in Vienna, Hamburg and Berlin. That's so enjoyable, and I will definitely update you on pub date when I have it.

Hi Gabriela, I'm thrilled that you enjoyed them. My next novel, The Words I Never Wrote, is a standalone, set in WWII and the present day. It's a story of two sisters divided by war, and it has spies and a love story too. It comes out in June 2019, and then the next Clara Vine! all best, Jane

Hi Karen, I'm so pleased you liked them. The standalone comes out first, in Spring, and then another Clara Vine. I'm very touched that you read all of the series. Thank you!
Jane Thynne
Dear Caroline, lovely to hear from you. There is another Clara Vine on the way, set in 1941 with flashbacks to 1937, but I have to finish a standalone novel first. I'm so pleased you like the series - it's such a pleasure to hear from people who've read them x

Hi Kerrie, it went out a few weeks ago on Channel 5. The link is here. http://www.channel5.com/show/adolf-ev...
I'm not sure if it's still watchable, but I'm aiming to put up a version on my website, so if the Channel 5 version doesn't function, there will be a way of watching it!

Dear Nissa, I'm so pleased you like them! yes, a fifth is out soon. It's called Solitaire and is set in the summer of 1940. Germany is at war, but Clara Vine remains trapped in Berlin, until Goebbels summons her with a very strange request....

Thank you, Eileen!

Hi Ruth, lovely to cyber-meet. As it happens, Black Roses is not available in the US, though there are plans to issue it as an e-book. I'll definitely keep you updated. All best to you, Jane

Hi Bee, yes, that's a common issue with period photographs - publishers choose them for book jackets and then find that other publishers got there first. There is another novel that I know of that uses the same picture. Hopefully the content is different though! I do hope you enjoy the novel, and thanks for getting in touch, all best, Jane

Yes, it is. So hope you enjoy it!

Dear Tammy, ah, you are trying to probe the infinite wisdom of publishers...I would so much rather they had been published in the order they were written, but the fact is, they are intended to be stand alone. Anyhow, the good news is, Clara Vine #2 is being released soon in the US and Canada as Woman In the Shadows...
Jane Thynne
Hi Tammy, yes, there is definitely thought of a trilogy, but before that Clara Vine #2 is coming out in Canada this November. It's been renamed Woman in the Shadows (just to make things super complicated!) Thanks so much for your interest and hope you enjoy it! Jane
This question contains spoilers...
(view spoiler)[Was the character of Hugh Lindsay in 'Faith & Beauty' in any way modeled on that of Kim Philby? Will Hedwig and Johen feature in the forthcoming 'Solitaire? And will the identity of the senior Gestapo official who released Clara be revealed? Quite understand if you choose not to answer!!

Dear Gordon, well spotted. I can't deny that Kim Philby was very much in my mind, but I'll keep you in suspense about the other two!

So glad you liked it, Cristina. The Mickey Mouse sessions are so bizarre, aren't they, but true. The next in the series, Solitaire, is due out at the end of 2016. Thanks for touching base!

Hi Gordon,
yes, the fifth Clara Vine novel, Solitaire, set in the summer of 1940 is out at the end of 2016. Life is much harder for Clara now, as you can imagine!

Dear Tara, first of all hi! I'm so looking forward to being published in the USA and meeting some new readers. And yes, it's a little confusing, I admit. The Scent of Secrets is the US title for A War of Flowers. It's set in 1938. It is, in fact, the third in the Clara Vine series, but they can be read in any order. Chronologically Black Roses is the first, set in 1933, and The Winter Garden is the second, set in 1937. My US publishers will release Scent this September and the others after that. Hope that's a little bit clearer and that you enjoy Scent when it comes out!
