Dawn Bates I would journey to the centre of the earth with Jules Verne, swimming in the oceans and lakes, sliding down mountains and exploring woodlands.

Dawn Bates Looking at her reflection in the mirror she saw all the regrets of a lifetime pouring out of her eyes on the mirror, playing like a movie with mocking laughter and all the voices of the naysayers who she allowed to diminish her dreams.

Scratching at her own eyes in a fit of rage and regret, the blood from her eyelids joined the salty tears and gracefully fell in step with the humiliating chorus of laughter from the movie that was her life.

Dawn Bates I watch and I listen. Try and make sense of what I see and hear, and then write what comes up for me.

I dance, walk in the woods or go for a swim in the ocean.

Sometimes I get inspired to write when I am in the bathroom or washing the dishes.

Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and have to write something down.

The challenge is weaving all the inspirations into my current book, articles or courses so what is left over can be released or gifted to someone else.
Dawn Bates I am currently working on three solo books, two client books, an anthology and my new Author Academy - so lots of writing, editing and marketing going on at the moment!
Dawn Bates The search for my Scottish Grandfather.
Dawn Bates I got the idea for

The Potent Power of Menopause: A Culturally Diverse Perspective of Feminine Transformation

when I was sailing across the Atlantic Ocean because I hadn't been able to find anything written by women from the human perspective, whilst learning and laughing along the way. All the books were either medical, drier than the Sahara Desert or a singular voice.

The books on the market were written from a mono-cultural perspective and in a diverse world where families are vastly different in cultures, there was a need for a different awareness of menopause.

Not every woman wants or needs HRT, which is the middle class white narrative of England. Not every woman in India wants a hysterectomy to 'deal with it', and pretty much every woman has no idea what to expect or where to get unbiased, culturally filtered information from.

So I drew up the plan, and then got to work when I reached land, and the rest as they say is history.
Dawn Bates Other than clearing my head of all the random thoughts and ideas, it would have to be the messages I receive from my readers.

The amount of times the messages have made me cry tears of joy or deep sadness, followed by the gratitude which floods my body that my words have helped another person to smile, get motivated and create a new and brighter future for themselves....

Nothing better than that feeling. Nada.

So thank you to all of you who have read my books and messaged me, you inspire me to write and sell more books so more lives are positively impacted.
Dawn Bates It depends on where I am, but normally I save the work I've done, turn on some hard house music and dance, or I go to the beach to swim, play or dive.

If that hasn't cleared the connection to my Conscious Unconscious Creation Process then I revisit the reason for writing the book or article, asking myself the following questions:

- Do I still want to write this?
- Is the deadline realistic?
- Is the subject still in alignment with the bigger vision?
- Is there another angle to tackle the same subject (providing it is still in alignment)
- What is the message I/my character want/s to share or understand?
- Is it time for a nap?

Once I have answered these questions, I make a cup of tea and then revisit what I have written before I get going again.

Hope this helps! :)
