David Phillips Story prompts can be found on-line and they're pretty good at sparking my imagination.
I also have a notepad where I write down ideas no matter how well thought out, good or bad, and I revisit that when looking for something to write. It's good to stockpile ideas when you get them, it can come in handy. Even if you don't create something directly from your original idea, when you revisit, it can inspire you in a whole different way.
David Phillips For my flash fiction, it is generally everyday things that my imagination can twist into something sinister and/or bizarre. I sometimes seek out story prompts on line to get the creative juices flowing.
I also might watch/read/listen to something and consider a different direction that I could take it.

David Phillips As a collection of stories, each story came to me in various ways, but as a whole, I wanted to showcase my writing styles and stories in an eclectic mix, but with a pretty consistent theme of dark and twisted tales.
David Phillips I'm currently at the planning, and almost at the "ready to write the first line", stage of my first novel.
