I could never have children because my uncle kicked me so hard down there when I was little, broke my pelvis really, just for trying to wake him up cause some man saying they were friends was at the door. He had just got back from Vietnam, so who knows what he saw coming out of his sleep.

Hello Alyssa, Thank you for reading Upstate and Conception. I am happy you enjoyed them. They are both complete in my eyes, though I have had ideas for other stories those books' characters could be the perfect containers for. I once attempted to set the lovers of Upstate in a tale of present-day activists, but something else took over. I would love to write another epistolary novel if inspired to it again. Thank you Kris. The audiobook won the Audie Award for Literary Fiction due to those narrators. They are phenomenal stage, tv, and screen actors I probably did not deserve for my first little book! Chadwick Boseman is making a name for himself in Hollywood now. He was a playwright and actor in Chicago at that time, so I was fortunate to meet him after he played in my work and also go see him in some of his own work as well. Many blessings, Kalisha

At base point of all that was probably my concern over a statistic I read stating more black men ages 18-24 were in jail than college, and it was distressing.
