I have extended family who live in the Irish countryside, Meath, and I always thought it was a great place to stage a story.

I won't lie, sometimes it is hard. Particularly whilst balancing a full-time job and trying to get in some down time. I think for my first novel it was more a case of getting over the line and proving to myself that I can finish writing a novel. Sometimes you do question it but ultimately it comes down to how much you want it. Actually getting yourself to sit down and produce something good is the hard part as, quite often, I found myself writing very little in an hour but then in other sessions I could write a whole chapter. It's about chipping away and once you get into a rhythm it makes it much easier! Just like a Brit jumping into a pool - it's alright once you're in!

I've written a book for young adults. Now I'm going to write for adults if I can, something spooky I think. My current idea involves an evil priest that is very Stephen King-esque, so watch this space!

Don't give up, especially if you're not used to writing full-length novels. Don't be afraid of writer's block either, embrace it. It's part of being a writer. It can be a good thing as you don't want to rush into anything and write a mediocre ending.

The satisfaction that people are reading your stories. Even if one person loves it, it's worth telling the story.

Other than shouting at my laptop? Mainly I take a walk and think about what I want to achieve and where I'm going with the book. Before covid, I'd play tennis or something too, hoping that movement will swing my mind into gear. Pun intended.

I think it has to be Hogwarts/the wizarding world in general. I'd love to venture down Diagon Alley and learn to play quidditch. And of course, being able to cast spells would be pretty cool.

Well, I am a big Stephen King fan so I will no doubt read what is waiting on my shelf: Sleeping Beauties. I also want to read the latest installment of Robert Galbraith's Strike novels, Troubled Blood. Ideally I'd like to get back into some old classics like some Dickens books and Shakespeare plays. I'm trying to read more non-fiction too, so I'll try and read more history related books and also some science and philosophy. I am a big thinker and so the big questions really interest me. I think it's important to read non-fiction too if you're a fiction writer... if you're going to integrate facts into a novel, you're wanna be sure you know what you're talking about.
