I wanted to say yes when I first read this, but I think the real answer is likely no. If joy or pleasure can be described as chemical reactions in the brain, you could imagine a world where only that specific chemical reaction takes place in the brain at all. It's true that Christmas Day would lose its magic if every day was Christmas Day, but if you could turn off the area of the brain that allows you to get bored of a good thing when that good thing comes too often, then I guess you could love it indefinitely. If that's true, I don't think you need to suffer in order to experience joy.

A good question. My first guess would be the fact that very few people want to create something that will be publicly scrutinized and picked apart. The fear of people finding their hard work underwhelming can be crippling to most people. But if you are talking more about never even finishing their first chapter, that answer might be even easier. They just don't have the passion for writing that they thought they had. If the passion to be a writer wholly consumed them, then they would find a way to do it. They would have no choice but to. It would be like an itch they cannot scratch. If they always start, then swiftly give up, then I find it hard to believe their heart was in the project at all. Now, there could be a third case; in which there are creative people who cannot find the time to put these projects together due to living very busy lives. That is unfortunate, but is known to happen.

I want to get through all of the Halo books before Halo Infinite comes out in the fall. There are many of them, so I'm not sure I'll be able to do it. But I'm crossing my fingers. I also want to get into some more Guy Gavriel Kay.

Your plane has just crash landed on a remote island in the middle of the ocean. Knowing you may be here for the remainder of your life, you check your luggage to discover you forgot to pack any of your favourite books.

I've never experienced Writer's Block. Writing is not my job. It's just fun. I plan for it to one day be my career, but even then I'm sure I will have little trouble getting it done. I just enjoy it. I wouldn't get 'Video Game Block' when I decide to play, you know? It's just a routine I ease into.

Never stop doing it, even if you see nothing for it. One day somebody will notice you. It may take a long time, but as long as you never stop it is a guarantee. The moment you stop is the moment you fail.
